PARIS | BARCELONA
Founded in 1989 by Manel Mayoral and Mari-Pepa Olivé, the Mayoral gallery has kept track of the cultural effervescence of the city of Barcelona after the 1992 Olympic Games. From then on, the gallery has embarked on a process of expansion and internationalisation.
Today, under the leadership of Eduard, Jordi and Cristina Mayoral, the gallery maintains a rigorous curatorial approach, which is the fruit of an exhaustive research.Throughout its history, Mayoral has held monographic exhibitions dedicated to Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Tàpies, Millares, Saura, Chillida, Chordà and Ocaña, among other artists, thus delving deeper into their creative processes and their current relevance.
A milestone in the evolution of Mayoral was the exhibition on Joan Miró’s atelier, «Miró’s Studio», presented in London and New York in 2016, which consolidated the leadership of the new generation. Since then, the gallery has continued to expand internationally, opening new venues in Paris (in 2019) and Barcelona (in 2024), the latter devoted to the art of today.
After 35 years, Mayoral articulates a programme focused on key figures in the art world, strengthening the links between Europe and Latin America. The gallery is also an active participant in major art fairs around the world, such as Art|Basel, Art|Basel Miami, Art|Basel Hong Kong, TEFAF Maastricht and ARCOmadrid.
