Biography

Within the discarded waste found in the urban decay, she searches for glimpses of beauty, which she instinctively and reflectively translates onto canvas in her studio. The studio serves as a space where the limits between art and the artist's life are blurred, allowing each creative impulse, a fragment of inspiration, and action to contribute to a natural symbiosis that shapes the artist's creative process.

Her work can be interpreted as a challenge to societal structures, highlighting the contradictions that permeate the urban landscape and the difficulties of living under the constant threat of gentrification. Through her instinctual approach to artistic creation, Pratts conveys a deeply encouraging sense of resilience.

Despite her relatively young career, Pratts has already held rellevant solo and group exhibitions in various galleries and institutions. Notably, her solo exhibition "1 Possessió Drift" at the Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2022) garnered significant attention and and at the Liceu Barcelona Opera House, Hall of Mirrors, Marria Pratts ‘1 Sardana, 3 Ghosts’ (2023).  She has also participated in collective exhibitions such as “Apunts per un incendi dels ulls” presented at MACBA Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (2021-2022), and "PUNK. Sus rastros en el arte contemporáneo" which took place at the Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo, Madrid; MACBA Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, and Artium, Vitoria (2015-2016). Additionally, she has showcased her work at prestigious international art fairs, including ARCO Madrid, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel Miami.
