MAYORAL announces the opening of a second exhibition space, located at Carrer Consell de Cent, 286, which will seamlessly integrate with the existing gallery in Barcelona. This vibrant neighborhood has been the epicenter of art since the 1960s, continually evolving with the surrounding urban landscape. The initiative is led by Eduard, Jordi, and Cristina Mayoral, who are the second generation of gallery owners and continue the legacy of the gallery's founder, Manel Mayoral.
Designed by the Jorge Vidal STUDIO, recipient of various awards including the FAD Prize and the Spanish Biennial Award for Architecture and Urbanism, the new adjoining space spans 250 m2. It aligns symmetrically with the current gallery.
The opening of this new venue marks another significant milestone in the gallery's history of innovation. Since 1989, MAYORAL has showcased exhibitions by prominent avant-garde artists such as JoanMiró, Pablo Picasso, and other influential figures.
"We are delighted to contribute to the city's art scene by developing a dedicated program for contemporary art, maintaining the same high standards of quality, discipline, and avant-garde that have characterized the gallery's trajectory," expressed Jordi Mayoral.
In addition to expanding its physical footprint, MAYORAL has reaffirmed its commitment to contemporary art and the city where it has primarily operated."Historically, Barcelona has been a meeting point for numerous global artistic movements. Our aim is to foster the emerging artistic practices and showcase them on an international level", added Eduard Mayoral.
