Curated by Tomàs Llores, this catalog explores Juana Francés’ informal period from 1957 to 1962. It features archival photographs, historical documents and texts by Cirilo L. Popovici, Giuseppe Marchiori, Vincent Aguilera Cerni, James Johnson Sweeney and Louis Gonzalez-Robles. Additionally, it includes a transcript of a 1959 interview with the artist, Juana Francés. It also includes dialogues between Boye Llorens and Isabel Tejeda, and between Carles Guerra and Agustín Pérez Rubio. Furthermore, the catalog showcases the sixteen works presented at the monographic exhibition dedicated to Juana Francés, which took place at our Barcelona space. To sum up, this book features excerpts from three interviews with women artists, Barbara Hepworth, Lee Krasner, and Grace Hartigan, providing further food for thought on gender issues in the art world. All the texts and interviews are translated into English, Spanish and Catalan.
